CAT 2012 Analysis

  1. Overall exam pattern:

The CAT 2012 exam has two sections, in order. No change in structure from the previous year. The exam started on Thursday, the 11th of October and testing window will remain open till Tuesday, the 06th of November 2012.

No. of questions in each sections is 30 and 70min is allotted for each section. There was no change in the exam syllabus.

Although Quants was tough but DI was comparatively manageable. Ideal attempts were 17 to 18 questions. Mostly the questions were based on common sense as there were no data sufficiency questions this time.

A good attempt in this section would be of 20-22 questions correctly.

3. BIRD’S EYE VIEW:

There was nothing new in terms of strategy and attempts. There is no variation in difficulty level across the different slot. Student should not stick to a particular question more than 2 min in quant and try to cover all easy questions first. This will help in solving tough questions later.  60% of surveyed student claimed their performance in VB+LR was good.
