Overall exam pattern:
IIFT 2011 consisted of 6 sections viz. Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, General Awareness, Verbal ability, Reading comprehension, Quantitative Ability. The difficulty level was moderate to difficult. The no. of questions was reduced from 135 to 120 to be solved in 120 min.

Detailed Sectional Analysis :
General Awareness :
As usual thequestions werefromDI were history, geography, Hollywood current affairs etc which was quite difficult. Students reading newspapers would have solved easily the questions in 10-15 min. it also had one of the statement from upper classes which was from PRATIYOGA DARPAN book .An ideal student would attempt 12-14 questions.
Reading Comprehension :
This section consisted of 4 passages with 4 questions in three passages & 3 questions on 4th passage .The 1st passage was on effect of trade & economy due to influence of IT & government policy. The 2nd passage was on how different income group people managed their finances. The 3rd passage was on behavioural aspects of popular lawyers. The 4th passage was on review of Indian bank’s performance & strategy they should use in future. An overall attempt would be 10-11 questions in 20-25 min.
Verbal Ability :
VA section had a good mix of vocabulary based questions, Fill in the blanks, Error identification, Para-jumbles etc. Average attempt would have been11-12 questions. The difficulty level was Moderate to difficult as more emphasis was given on Grammar. A good candidate could have solved it within 25 minutes.
Quantitative ability :
QA consisted of questions from ERPV, P & L, Mensuration, logarithms, arithmetic, time & work, time & distance, AMA. Difficulty level was moderate to difficult. Since questions were lengthy it was time consuming. Average attempt would have been 10-12 questions.A good student could have solved it within 30-35 min. The total questions were reduced from 30 to 24 this year.
This section had 3 sets out of which 1 was time consuming. The set on GDP was time consuming. The set on country XX’s export to various countries & set on import & export of 10 different countries was simple & less time consuming. Average attempts could be 10-12 questions which could be solved in 15-20 min.
The questions were from coding- decoding, syllogisms, course of action, blood relations, term selection, arrangement etc. The difficulty level was easy to moderate. Average attempt would be 14-16 questions which could be solved within 15-20 min.
