Overall exam pattern :
IIFT 2014 exam pattern was quite different from the previous year. With the differential marking scheme the total no. of questions were 118. There were 4 sections and duration was 2 hours. The major change in exam pattern was that LR section was independent and DI section was clubbed with Quants. Sectional cut-offs were considered in IIFT exam.

Detailed Sectional Analysis:
Part 1 – Reading Comprehension.
RC part was easy to read and comprised of 4 passages with direct questions, thus one could easily locate the answers. Passages were quite long and carried one mark each, there were in total 15-16 passages. The average attempt could have been 7-8 questions in RC.
Part 2 – Verbal ability.
VA part had a total of 20 questions of 0.75 marks each. Topics covered were vocabulary, grammar and sentence based questions, sentence correction, sentence formation, idioms etc. average attempt could
have been 12-15 questions. Difficulty level was quite high.
Analytical &Logical reasoning:
This section had difficulty level of moderate – difficult. It had a mixture of selection – based problems, puzzles, input – output problems. The questions were quite lengthy, difficult and time consuming as compared to last year’s paper. Average attempt could have been 9-12 questions.
Part 1: Data Interpretation:
DI section had 5 multiple graphs and 10 tables a total of 15 questions of 1
Mark each. Mostly the questions were of calculation – intensive. Average could have been 8-10 questions.
Part 2 : Quantitative Ability:
QA section was moderate to tough. Average attempt could have been 10- 12 question.
Section 4 : General Awareness :
GK section was surprisingly simple there were hardly very few difficult questions. It comprised of questions on current affairs. Average attempt could have been 8-10 questions.
