MH-CET contains MCQ questions(5 choices) with 200 questions spread across
· Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension,
· Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation/sufficiency and
· Logical/Abstract Reasoning.
Duration: 150 minutes. No Negative marks.
Always there has been a surprise about the split given to the each sections. The above pattern was followed from MAH-CET 2014 (i.e) for the past 2 years.
MH-CET 2014 pattern:
· Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension – 60 questions.
· Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation/sufficiency – 50 questions.
· Logical/Abstract Reasoning – 90 questions.
MH-CET 2015 pattern:
· Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension – 45 questions.
· Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation/sufficiency – 55 questions.
· Logical/Abstract Reasoning – 100 questions.
Though the number of questions differ every year, but the sections under which the category falls is same always. Here we gonna to close look of those sections.
Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation/sufficiency:
A major part of the questions are from Arithmetic section, which includes Time, Speed and Distance, Time and Work, Percentage, etc. which would be moderate to difficult. There were some sets of five questions on Data Interpretation. There could be some 5-6 questions from Functions/Maxima/Minima which would be difficult. A couple of questions were on Geometry, Probability and Algebra which would be easy. Apart from this, two sets of five questions each based on Venn diagram/Set theory could be expected which would be easy. MH-CET 2015 had no questions from Data Sufficiency and Comparison of Quantities were reported, while MH-CET 2014 reported five questions on Data Sufficiency and comparison of quality.
Overall, the difficulty level would be from easy to moderate. An attempt of about 45 questions would be said a very good attempt.
This section has been given maximum weightage in both MAH-CET 2014 & 2015. A major part were on Visual Reasoning, which were relatively tougher and time consuming too. Few sets of questions each have been reported on Arrangements which would be moderate to difficult. Few questions on Series, Analogy have also been reported which would be difficult. Few questions on Venn diagram and the questions on Statement Conclusion, Statement Argument, Statement Assumption and Implicit Statement which would be moderate. The remaining questions on Input/Output, Blood Relations, Coding/Decoding, Data Sufficiency, and Syllogisms have been reported which would be easy.
Overall, the difficulty level would be from moderate to difficult. An attempt of about 60-65 questions from this area can be considered to be a good attempt.
Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension:
A major part were on Reading Comprehension basically 2 passages with 5 questions each. There were few cloze tests, basically a blank cloze passage with few questions which would be easy to moderate. There were 5-6 questions on FIB. The 5 questions based on Error Spotting were incomplete and therefore it was difficult to identify which part had an error. An attempt of about 30 questions from this area can be considered to be a good attempt. ‘Probable Starters’ was a new topic which was introduced in MAH-CET 2014. There were few questions on Critical Reasoning which would be easy. Few questions were on vocabulary, verbal reasoning, sentence arrangement, sentence correction and fill in the blanks. The other topics included Spelling/Inappropriate usage, phrase replacement, Para Jumbles (six sentence type), Odd Sentence Para Jumble and Synonym/Antonym.
Overall, the difficulty level would be easy. An attempt of about 35 questions from this area can be considered to be a good attempt.
