MICAT December 2016 First Cut Analysis

MICAT December 2016 First Cut Analysis

MICAT 2016, was on the same lines as MICAT 2015. Was indeed a relief for most students who have been passionately working hard to bring out the creativity within to pass the gateway to their dream college, the Mecca of Marketing and Communications.

The exam started with the Psychometric test; which was aligned to last year’s structure of having 3 types of question sets. As I have always mentioned attempting all questions is a must, most of the students had a fall out in this due to technical issues while checking the summary on questions attempted. Kudos to the prompt action by the MICA Team Interface for tackling these issues immediately This section had a little time consuming questions which did put some students under pressure for the last few questions.

Descriptive Writing was truly creative with a set of pictures of a library with colorful books, a turtle, damp room of keyboards wires taken off, and two happy friends. I am sure the students who have been practicing were able to churn their creativity. The Argument Topic was a little tricky like last year. The topic this year was on Geo Political Environment Criticism which definitely expected some concrete argument points, truly meant to judge the Analytical skills and the thought process.

No surprises here today in the Objective section, as expected by our MICA Mentors team the Quantitative Ability was an easy section with simple and direct formula based questions which was doable for all students who did prepare for CAT as well.

GK was completely based on marketing with lots of questions from Mergers and Acquisitions; CEO’s of top companies; branding with match the following logo questions. Was such a Bliss for our students to get almost 4-5 questions that were revised and discussed in the last 3 days Workshops to ACE the MICAT.

Reasoning dominated by word associations saw a couple of difficult ones but the rest were doable. Quantitative Ability was an easy to moderate section with a new entry made by Trigonometry question though was direct formula based. Verbal continued to be one of the favorite sections of the students

Good Attempts:

Quants 13-15

Verbal 17-20

Reasoning 20-22

GK – 10-12

Overall 60 Attempts are good.  Sectional cutoffs have not been a significant criteria in MICA over the years so we expect the same unless there USB something new in store this year.  Let’s await the scores on December 19th till then relax.

All the Best to the MICANS Eagerly looking forward to meeting you all for the GE-PI it’s the most fun part of teaching; and the MICA aspirants who didn’t do well don’t get disheartened we have the February attempt and for all those looking for some guidance can always reach out to me on facebook or my co-mentor Anisha Mukhija on facebook.
