CAT 2010 v/s CAT 2017 Similarity IIM -L What can we learn from the Past?

CAT 2017 is conducted by IIM-Lucknow and the last time IIM-Lucknow conducted CAT was in the year 2010. It is very important to understand the thought process of the authority conducting the exam.This year IIM Lucknow PGP Admission Chair Professor Neeraj Dwivedi will be the convener of CAT 2017. CAT 2016 was conducted by IIM-Bangalore and the assumptions of Verbal Section being a bit tricky came out to be true.Further, we’ll analyze CAT 2010 exam and try to grasp all the information and the changes that we can expect in the CAT 2017.

CAT 2010 Quant Section was tough but with the coming years, the level of difficulty has gone down a notch or two giving the non-engineers a fair chance to get their dream college. Dividing the chapters according to their weightage and studying the chapters accordingly is one of the way to do smart work rather than hard work. Quants section for CAT 2017 candidate can expect the following breakdown of chapters with the approximate number of questions asked according to the chapters-

Verbal Section-

Verbal section tests your reading ability and presence of mind. The CAT Verbal Section is all about testing Reading Ability. Fully one third of the Section is Reading Comprehension, with a total of 16 questions on this pattern alone. Apart from the 16 other questions from Logical Reasoning (more on this later), the other question patterns also focus on testing Reading Ability

CAT 2017

Logical Reasoning Section –

The vocabulary used in logical reasoning questions, according to the expert is different from the one used in Verbal Ability hence it is imperative that you must have the knowledge of the terminology used in this part, since the questions are formed on the topics based on the said terminology in CAT. Besides, certain topics on which CAT prefers to frame the questions have specific logical rules to follow to solve them.
