The Common Admission Test also known as CAT is an entrance test for getting admission into various b-schools of India. The exam is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) across various centres across India. Getting good scores in the Common Admission Test will land you in some of the top management institutes of the country, such as IIMs, S.P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), & Jamanlal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) just to mention a few.
A candidate must have scored at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in their graduation and those belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) categories need only 45% marks.
Candidates are allowed to appear in CAT with 2 years of graduation whereas in IIM it is compulsory to have a graduation degree of minimum of 3 years.
CAT is a computer-based multiple choice questions test with a total of 100 questions to be attempted in 3 Hrs.
The exam is divided into 3 sections and the objective test will have questions related to Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability.
Questions with negative marking (MCQs): 75
Questions without negative marking (MCQs): 25
Every correct answer will be awarded 3 marks while 1 mark will be deducted in case of wrong answers.
