Overview on TISSNET

TISSNET is conducted by TISS. The TISS in Mumbai was established in 1936. It is the first school of social work in India. TISS was a pioneering effort, characteristic of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT).


Candidates having a bachelor’s degree with minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognized university are eligible to apply.

At the time of applying candidates studying in 3 year degree program should have passed in all the subjects for the 1st to 4th semesters and candidates studying in 4 year degree program should have passed in all the subjects for 1st to 6th semester.

Only those Candidates who will be able to complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor’s Degree examinations by July of the exam year are eligible to apply to all the program.

Test Duration and Pattern:

TISSNET is a computer-based multiple choice questions test with a total of 125 questions to be attempted in 105 mins.

The test is divided into two sections:

Part 1 – 50 questions (45 mins)

Part 2 – 75 questions (60 mins). The objective test will have questions related to General Knowledge; Analytical Ability, Logical Reasoning; and English Proficiency.

Scoring Pattern:

Part 1 has no negative marking whereas

Part 2 has 0.25 negative marks per question.
