NMAT 2012 Analysis

Overall exam pattern :

There was a major change in the Narsee Monjee Aptitude Test 2012 i.e the introduction of timed sections and the 3 sections were :

QA – 48 questions in 60 minutes

VA- 32 questions in 22 minutes

LR – 40 questions in 38 minutes.

Also the candidates had an added advantage of deciding the order in which they wanted to attempt the sections. Since there was no negative marking in NMAT 2012 so it was mandatory to mark all the 120 questions. Overall the paper was of easy to moderate level.  A new element added in the exam was a couple of questions based on decision making in the logical reasoning section.

Detailed Sectional Analysis:

 Language Skills:

Any candidate having a basic knowledge of grammar could have excelled this section as it was quite easy. The reading comprehension passages were of moderate level. Average attempt would have been 32 questions in the allotted time.

Quantitative Skills.

This section entirely consisted of topics of mathematics. The difficulty level was easy to moderate. Average attempt would have been 48 questions in the time allotted of 60 minutes.

Logical reasoning:

The difficulty level of this section was easy to moderate. The average attempt should have been 22-24 questions. Overall the difficulty level was easy- moderate.

BIRD’S EYE VIEW:

Overall the NMAT was a 120 minute duration test which consisted of objective type multiple- choice questions. Candidates had the option of selecting the order of the section to be displayed on the screen at the beginning of the test. Fortunately there were no technical difficulties in the test. Candidates had the option of appearing more than once (maximum upto 3 attempts) this gave an opportunity to the candidates who were dissatisfied with their scores to improve their scores by giving retakes. Overall the difficulty level was easy to moderate.
