What is SAT?

The Scholastic Aptitude/Assessment Test (SAT) is a standardized exam conducted by College Board that evaluates the mathematical, writing and reading prowess of a candidate. It is designed for high-school students looking for a college education, and the exam is meant to test the candidate’s ability to analyze and solve problems. The SAT Exam is conducted on the second Saturday of October, November, December, January, and May.Completion of SAT and achieving the desired score is considered as the first step toward the college application process for the United States. It is used by most colleges in the US to assess a student’s potential and further grant admission.

How to register for the exam?

One needs a debit/credit card with international currency support enabled to be able to register for the exam. College Board does not specify any age requirement; however, a valid Indian passport is a must to appear for the exam.Registration takes place on the CollegeBoard website (www.collegeboard.org).To register, you need to create a student account on CollegeBoard. This will be your portal to register for the exams, check for dates of the exam, check for dates for results and check your results.A payment made in the form of online payment is required to register for the exam. So make sure you have your Visa, Master Card, Amex, Discover or JCB ready with you.

When can I check my results?

Results for the SAT exam are usually updated on the student portal approximately 3 to 4 weeks after taking the test.

What is the scoring pattern?

Each section (English and Math) is marked in the range of 200-800 points, and the final score ranges from 400-1600. The written essay is scored on a scale of 0-24 and varies incrementally.
