CAT 2010 Analysis

Overall exam pattern :

The CAT 2010 test structure was similar to that of CAT 2009. The candidates felt that the exam was quite smooth and glitch-free. Difficulty level was easy to moderate. The average attempt of each section should have been 15 questions. The test duration was 2 hours and 15 minutes. There were a total of 60 questions with 3 sections.


A Quantitative Ability Geometry, Arithmetic, Number theory, Algebra, Permutation& combination, Ratios, Volume of cylinders etc.
B Data Interpretation Pie charts, Bar graphs, Tables, Line graphs, 3-d Charts , Maxima & Minima.
C Logical Reasoning Set of conditions, Logical arguments , Venn diagrams, Puzzles.
D Verbal Ability Para- jumbles, para- completion, Fill in the blanks, Correct usage of words.

Detailed Sectional Analysis :

 Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation.



QA section was based on simple calculations. It included application of algorithms. It also included a mixture of high level and low level maths. The difficulty level was moderate.  However DI section was quite lengthy and time consuming as it involved big calculations.

Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning.



The difficulty level of verbal ability was easy to moderate and LR was moderate to difficult. LR was quite time consuming and it required proper time management.

Tough Challenge Both the sections had a separate time slot of 70 minutes each. Candidates were not allowed to skip from one section to another.
