What is the TISSNET Exam?
TISS also known as the TATA Institute of social science conducts National Entrance Test (NET) a.k.a TISSNET exam. And this test is a computer-based examination, using English as a medium.
So it has 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be completed in 100 minutes i.e, one hour 40 minutes. But for any of its programs, the TISSNET entrance exam has no negative marking.

Academics:
- The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Candidates completing their final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent by June 2024, can also apply.
- Students pursuing a 3-year bachelor’s degree should have passed all 4 semesters at the time of filling out the TISSNET application form. Whereas those pursuing a four-year bachelor’s degree must have cleared all the subjects up to the sixth semester.
Work Experience:
Applicants opting for the Master of Arts in (Organisation Development, Change, and Leadership) program should have at least 2-years of work experience after graduating, in any field.
Age Factor:
There is no age limitation criterion for TISSNET Entrance Exam students/applicants.

*Although the above chart says no cut-off for the sections other than general awareness. But you are expected to have a minimum score in each one to meet the overall cut-off. The cut-off for the TISSNET Entrance exam is between 65-75.
TISSNET exam syllabus
First, we will begin with one of the important sections but also scoring one. And it’s important because it’s the only section that has a cut-off so being well-prepared for it is advantageous.
Section I: General Awareness
Here’s a video of the critical issues of general knowledge that will help you pass the cut-off and boost your overall ranking.
- This section, as the name suggests will contain questions based on general awareness.
- But this section does not limit itself to current affairs or day-to-day happenings.
- In this section, you are expected to everything about the world’s affairs. Day to Day events happening around the world. It ranges around “static GK or current GK”
- According to last year’s analysis, the questions were not even in the range of the above two.
- Your focus should be on Ecological and Environmental topics. Because they are expected to recur in most cases.
- Social awareness of another important topic. Focus on General awareness.
- Since the questions are highly unpredictable it is advised to focus more on social awareness topics. And also refer to past year’s questions
- Sections like these have no particular portion. And hence it is better to prepare for all the sections
- The paper of the year 2016 was more focused on budget, government schemes, and independence day
- The paper of the year 2017 was more focused on Social laws as compared to schemes

Section II: Mathematics & Logical Reasoning
- These sections mainly consist of mathematical and logical puzzles which require critical and Quick thinking
- All kinds of logical puzzles are advised to be practiced.
- The puzzles that appear in exams are usually very lengthy and require a lot of calculations
- It is better to take note of a few tricks which will help in escalating your solving skills.
- You must take care of the smallest of details as slightest of the mistakes can lead to a wrong answer
- These types of questions demand strong fundamental knowledge and application
- Arithmetic questions in last year’s papers were ranging from easy to moderate
- Strong fundamental knowledge should be there while attempting these types of questions
- You must have good detailing skills as well as analytical skills

2) Society and social issues: Because social and general awareness is the center of all the tests, it is important to concentrate more on social and general awareness. Refer to Indian Social Issues-Ram Ahuja.
3) Current affairs: So, for this section strictly resort to only Newspapers. You can purchase some of Pearson or Manorama’s novels, too. It is best not to choose big and heavy books but to choose what suits you in the end.

Process after the TISSNET exam & results
Group Discussion/Pre-Interview Test (PIT)
After that, the student/applicant clears the TISSNET Entrance exam for the next step, which is the method of placement. And this method is a Pre-Interview test that can be either a group conversation or a written test. The PIT usually runs from 30-40 minutes
The process also differs concerning various programs some have a PIT two sections. An essay composition, for example, is accompanied by case study questions focused on it.
Personal Interview (PI)
