How to crack NMAT in 3 months
May 10 2024

Start by giving a full-length mock test

This is, in fact, one of the most crucial steps of  NMAT preparation. It is based on one simple logic: You need to know where you currently are in order to be able to chalk out a way to get to the place where you want to be.

Many people fail to take mocks before the exam, however, this is an important step and should not be missed. When you take a diagnostic mock and spend time analyzing it, it will give you a reality check. You begin to develop an understanding of which are the areas you may be good at and find easy to prepare and which topics are troublemakers. This goes a long way in helping you crack NMAT.

Also, once you have seen your scores, you will have a rough idea of how much effort you must put in, in order to achieve the desired results.  GMAC has introduced the new NMAT exam pattern in 2020. NMAT has now become an adaptive test. NMAT will now have an equal number of questions in each section.

    • Understand that logical reasoning skills require consistent practice and cannot be developed overnight.
    • Engage in regular practice sessions covering various question types from diverse sources.
    • Practice enhances familiarity with different question patterns and improves problem-solving abilities.
  • Practice Variety:

    • Work on questions from a variety of sources to expose yourself to different question types and formats.
    • Diversifying your practice material helps in developing adaptability and proficiency across various question styles.
  • Progress through Practice:

    • Recognize that improvement in logical reasoning comes with practice.
    • Track your progress over time and strive for incremental improvement with each practice session.

Verbal Section:

The sure shot way of excelling in this section is to develop an extensive reading habit. This helps you improve your vocabulary as well as comprehension. Pay special attention to the editorial section in newspapers. Reference to an authentic ‘wordlist’, giving the meaning and usage of words, will be conducive to handling questions on synonyms, antonyms, and analogies, which are popularly tested in this section. In this section, the maximum number of questions can be attempted.

Questions in this section are direct and knowledge-based. The time-consuming section is the Reading Comprehension section. So keep this section for the last and try to attempt at least 2 passages.

Moreover, the more you give mocks, the more you will be able to attempt this section faster.

Taking plenty of topic wise and sectional tests

Taking plenty of topics wise and sectional tests is an indispensable part of preparing for any competitive exam and things are no different for NMAT. You must develop a habit of test-taking and regularly attempt them throughout your preparation phase.

Also, make sure you take full-length mock tests every once in a while. Devote the last stage of your preparation, to take full length mocks extensively and spend a good amount of time analyzing those. Based on the analysis, refine your test-taking strategy and test that in the next NMAT mock test you take.

This way, by the time your exam is due, you will have a full proof exam strategy that works wonders for you. Hope this outline helps you crack NMAT 2020.
