NMAT is a computer-based exam. The NMAT is conducted in 2 modes- home-based and Center based exams. For every correct answer, the aspirant would have 1 mark and there is no negative marking. There is a total 120 minutes time limit and there is also section-wise time allocated. 40 minutes are allocated for the logical reasoning section. 52 minutes for the quant section and 28 minutes for language skills.

No new changes are expected to be introduced in the exam pattern this year. NMAT by GMAC will continue to be a 120-minute (two hours) exam with three sections: three sections – Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning.
Candidates can take NMAT by GMAC up to a total of three times. The best of the three scores will be used for admission.

The test comprises of the following sections:

Language Skills: 36 questions and 28 minutes

Quantitative Skills: 36 questions and 52 minutes

Logical Reasoning: 36 questions and 40 minutes

Total 108 questions and 120 minutes

According to the official notification, “The NMAT by GMAC is computer-delivered and gives each candidate a randomly generated test from a pool of questions, delivered one-at-a-time. The number of questions, difficulty levels, and the time limit for each of the sections are predetermined and, under normal administration conditions, are the same regardless of when and where the test is administered. Candidates have a choice of selecting the order/sequence of the test sections.”
Also, NMAT by GMAC test-takers need to review their answers before moving to another section of the exam. Once the candidate ends a particular section, all answers are considered final.
Candidates can choose a date, time and location of exam according to their convenience.

Here are a few important details about NMAT by GMAC:

1.Three Attempts: Candidates can take the test three times in an admission cycle – one exam and two retakes.
2. Choosing the section order: Candidates can choose the order of sections in the test. For instance, one can opt to attempt QA section first followed VA and LR.
3. Reviewing: You can review your answers at the end of each section so you always have the opportunity to revise if you’re not sure of your original response.
4.No negative marking: “The system of no negative marking is in line with global practices,” stated an official GMAC release.

To help create a preparation strategy, here are some tips:

Ask yourself questions like what subject to prepare at what time, how much time to devote to it, when to start revision and so on.
