XAT Exam

 

XAT or the Xavier Aptitude Test is organized by XLRI (Jamshedpur), every year. XAT scores are applicable to the admission processes of around 100+ colleges. In terms of difficulty levels, the XAT exam is considered to be the toughest of all MBA Entrance exams. XAT Exam Analysis is important if one is aiming for high results to enter the top B-schools.

Exam Pattern

XAT is a computer-based exam, with 100 MCQ-type questions in a time duration of 3 hours (180 minutes). This year, the Essay Writing section is reintroduced, and hence the duration is increased by 10 minutes for writing the essay.

In the XAT exam, there is no sectional time limit for the sections Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability, and Decision Making, however, for the GK and Essay Writing sections there will be sectional time limits.

XAT Marking Scheme

Part I

  • +1 mark is awarded for EACH correct answer

  • -0.25 marks are awarded for EACH incorrect answer

  • -0.10 marks are awarded to EACH un-attempted question after EIGHT un-attempted questions

Part II

  • +1 mark is awarded for EACH correct General Knowledge answer

  • Negative marking does not apply to the General Knowledge questions (GK)

  • Negative marking does not apply to the Analytical Essay Question (AEW)
