The SIES GDPI has finally taken off…and as usual keeping our tradition alive, we are posting the first hand experiences our candidates..
So here goes the process:
ARRIVAL AT THE VENUE:
Each of the candidates, reach the venue and gather in the auditorium. There are 144 aspirants pre divided in 12 groups of 12 students each. Each student is assigned a buddy (a senior). A presentation is given by the college providing college information. After 20 mins of presentation, the buddy takes his/her respective group to the respective classroom for the Group Discussion.
Group Discussion:
Once in the classroom, you will be supervised by 2 panelists. Candidates are given only one,, yes ONE topic, time for which has been decided as 25 mins.
BREAK TIME:
After Group Discussion, there is break time of 30 mins during which the Personal Interview starts. During the half an hour, candidates can interact with their buddies, and ask college related information.
PERSONAL INTERVIEW:
There is only one PI. It will be taken by 2 panelists. The PI time is generally 10 to 20 mins. The questions asked are more acad and work ex related.

GD Topic- Orange color
GD was good, no fish market as the content available was very little. There was a break of 1.5 hrs between our pi and GD so we introduced each other and had a friendly chat it reflected during our GD, it became a friendly discussion where everyone was supportive and giving an opportunity to speak…
Done with my process, GD topic – How real are Reality Shows, in PI they asked about basic questions, questions related to work, why MBA etc. whole process was well organised u r free within 3 hours.
Had a good experience overall ALL THE BEST !

The topic for GD was media trial good for society???? and PI was good they mainly asked me why I want to pursue an MBA as I already have a master's degree and general introduction and books that I have read in the recent past..
My topic was: Who is responsible for eve-teasing? boys or girls

GD Topic: Food comes first, Ethics later
I thought it was an easy topic compared to what others got, and had made quite a few entries with relative points.
PI:
The questions were as follows:
- Tell me something about yourself
- What do u want to do?
- Why marketing? what is selling?
- What is a brand? what are the parameters of a brand? why sies?
all these questions i sailed through…but - Why MBA?
I had my answer…..but I have very rough feedback for this particular question. Which doesn't need to be posted I think CATKing Rav Singh. I just feel they wanted to take my case so they did… Otherwise overall GD: Good
PI: OK (mainly because of that last question)

Had my GDPI at Bhopal (Rajhans Regent Hotel) time 12 .pm. I was tense as there were too many candidates hopping & Popping everywhere. We were given our respective batches. moved directly into the GD room. 1 panelist for GD (shayad faculty of the college), we were 12 candidates Gd topic — Stem cell banking as necessary as Life Insurance. (blank mind — we were also unknown & blank mind too) GD initially was horrible as nobody knew anything bout the topic. We were made to start the topic one by one.
Candidate#1. Mam, actually I don’t about the topic but …..blah blah blah…..
Candidate#2. Mam, actually I don’t about the topic but …..blah blah blah…..
MODERATOR: Does anybody know about the topic?
All the candidates - NO ??????
MODERATOR Explains the topic in detail. We start discussing the topic for 15 mins then MODERATOR stops us.
He tells us to conclude himself one by one. Then ask anybody to conclude the GD. I conclude that Gd, with a phrase of Mr. J.F. KENNEDY.–“ASK NOT WHAT THE COUNTRY CAN GIVE YOU, ASK WHAT YOU CAN GIVE THE COUNTRY ”
PI was taken by the same MAM who was MODERATOR.
PI was good. asked some profile-based questions.
- Why sies
- Why PGDM.
- Difference between marketing & sales.
Overall good experience. MAM was good the coordinator was also good. Results will be declared in 1 week of June (+2-3 days)

Had my GDPI at Blore today, and the process was smooth. The GD Topic was management education is only for the rich, this was the same topic some groups had in Mumbai, the discussion was a healthy one with me being the first one to talk :-).
The interview was also ok with interviewers digging deep into the answers as usual :-P, some of the questions were why an MBA, What would you do if 70 of 100 team members took a leave on the same day:-P, weaknesses, and etc.Made some good friends also there :-), overall it was a wonderful experience :-), hope to convert it! Best of luck with the upcoming GDPI!

Done with GDPI at Bhopal on the @5 of May, the topic was whether Capital punishment should be banned or not!!! 12 people were in a GD batch, and asked to think for 3 min then everyone had to speak for 3-to 4 min, and then discuss, but the group started shouting and the moderator stopped in between and disappointed with the group, and thought I did well in GD.
PI- only one guy took the interview and it was damn simple, only profile-based questions, nothing specific, finished almost 15 interviews in just an hour!!!!

GDPI Sunday 21st Morning at SIES Navi Mumbai.
GD Topic: "Management education is only for the rich." Our group struggled to find the right points to discuss. I initiated the discussion, but overall, it was just okay.
PI: It felt like a job interview for an electronics engineer, fully focused on technical aspects. There wasn't a single typical MBA PI question. I wasn't fully satisfied with my PI, but I'm still hoping for a positive outcome. Thanks to Shiva Bhaiya for his support there.

I had my GDPI round today at Nerul at 9:00 am.
GD: The topic was “Development or Concrete Congestion.”
PI: There were two panelists. The first question they asked was to tell them something about myself. They then asked cricket-related questions since I mentioned it as my hobby. Thank God, they only asked one technical question. They also asked what I would do if they didn't select me for SIES. Overall, the experience was quite good. The buddy was very cooperative. Thank you, seniors!

I had my GDPI round today at Nerul at 12:00 pm. This time, they changed the process and made it simpler, with a GD and only one PI.
After reporting to the campus, we needed to collect our batch and then move to the auditorium, where we waited for a long time, around 2 hours. Refreshments were provided, and they arranged a Q&A session and a presentation in between. Finally, the process began at 2:00 pm. They assigned a buddy (student coordinator) for each group. There were 12 people in my group.
GD Topic: "Is there any point in having a business strategy when the world scenario changes from month to month?" It was okay for me, not so good.
PI: There were two panelists.
- Q: Tell me about yourself.
- Q: Asked about one weakness I had mentioned.
- Q: Challenges faced at work.
- Q: Why MBA when there are many people out there who manage everything without a degree/education?
- Q: 10th, 12th, graduation, and CAT/CMAT marks?
Overall, the process was nice, and yes, the buddy was very cooperative and helpful. Thank you! 😊
Ravi Chopade
I had my GDPI round today.
GD Topic: "Is the social responsibility of business to make profit?"
PI Questions:
- Tell me something about yourself.
- What is team effort, and how have you contributed at your workspace?
- Which news are you following these days? (Make sure you have enough knowledge and have been reading about it extensively.)
- Why do you want to pursue an MBA?
- Which specialization are you interested in and why?
- Which other colleges have you applied to, and what is your preference order?
- Why do you want to join SIES?
- What will you do if you don't get admission into the applied colleges?
- What is your goal in life, and how will an MBA help you achieve it?
These are basic questions, and many sub-questions related to these were also asked. Be clear about your thoughts and opinions. The whole process was very smooth, and all queries were answered nicely. Thanks to all the seniors!

GD Topic: "Managerial skills learnt in the classroom can never match those learnt through experience." It was an easy topic, and we were given 15 minutes. Everybody spoke, but due to the nature of the topic, there was a lot of repetition. In the end, two ladies on the panel asked three people to summarize.
PI: The interviewer was very experienced and knowledgeable. Since I have done engineering in electronics, he asked all the questions related to that, with no general questions at all. The interview lasted around 15 minutes.
