JBIMS: Keeping its Admission Process Secret

Once bitten, twice shy - Jamna Lal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai, has avoided announcing its admission policy and process for the MMS 2023-24 batch as last year the institute faced the brunt of legal issues till the reprieve was received from Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in restoring its Autonomous status and finalizing admission to its MMS Programme. All this delayed the tutorial session and now thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tutorial session and admission process both are delayed again.

Uncertainty among Candidates

Thousands of the candidates seeking admission at JBIMS are worried now because of the admission process in other top MBA colleges like IIMs, FMS Delhi, SPJIMR Mumbai, MDI Gurgaon among others is over and school term 2020-21 has started but the admission process at JBIMS has not yet begun. These candidates have a legitimate reason because the delay within the admission process at JBIMS has left them with no good choice to pursue an MBA. The prospective candidates are raising the query about the JBIMS admission process and whether there was any move by the JBIMS to conduct its own admission process, however, JBIMS has not announced any of its own admission policy and remains under the ultimate selection process conducted by DTE CAP. MMS is that the flagship course of the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), conducted as a university department of the University of Mumbai. it's a two-year full-time post-graduate degree course in management. Started as early as 1965, the course has been modified continually and appropriately to suit the contemporary corporate world needs and has been ready to nurture prominent leaders of an equivalent. The institute offers various specializations like Finance, Marketing, Personnel, Operations, and Systems within the second year of the course.

Will DTE cancel CAP Round?

DTE Maharashtra isn't moving forward thanks to Covid-19 pandemic and isn't releasing CAP dates for MBA admission in JBIMS and other B-schools of Maharashtra. The recent AICTE guidelines extending the admission dates and allowing the B-schools to supply admission on the idea of graduation marks, it's possible that DTE could be mulling to not conduct the CAP 2020 and offer admission on the idea of entrance examination score and/or academic profile of the candidates.

Update by JBIMS on Admission

Most of the opposite top MBA colleges in Maharashtra like SIMSREE, PUMBA, K J Somaiya et al. have shared the MBA/MMS admission process on their websites. They also update the knowledge periodically, but neither JBIMS nor the DTE Maharashtra has cared to post the knowledge associated with admission 2020 on their respective website. JBIMS will offer 85% seats to Maharashtra State Candidates and 15% seats to all or any India category candidates. there's no change within the status of JBIMS and therefore the institute continues with its Autonomous Status.

JBIMS: Autonomy Restored

It may be noted that JBIMS Mumbai may be a close entity and a constituent of Mumbai University. it's enjoyed the Autonomous status from 2014 till date. The status was abruptly changed by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra in 2019, putting thousands of MBA aspirants in dilemma. However, after getting its autonomous status restored by the Supreme Court of India on September 2, the JBIMS Admission offers were made last year by DTE Maharashtra accordingly. it's understood that the tussle between JBIMS and DTE regarding the JBIMS Autonomy is over now and will not impact again the longer term of MMS 2023-24 batch.
