Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar is the 15th IIM set up by the Ministry of Education (earlier Ministry of Human Resource Development) with the support of the Government of Punjab. With the various facilities like state-of-the-art IT-enabled classrooms, a digital library giving access to the most relevant national and international business and management journals, auditorium, student activity room, indoor & outdoor sports facilities, gymnasium, spacious hostel rooms, etc., IIM Amritsar provides a nurturing environment for its students to learn and grow. A candidate cannot enroll in two programs at the same time and final offer may be revoked if candidate fail to complete the graduation requirements before Academic Term begins at IIM Amritsar.

IIM Amritsar Courses and Fees 2025
MBA Program Design and Curriculum
IIM Amritsar MBA program imparts foundational functional knowledge of management in its first year and offers integrative and specialization courses in the second year. The program offers opportunity to develop global perspective thorough international market exploration.
First Year of the program
- Preparatory program: The Institute offers a 2-week compulsory preparatory program for selected students to enhance their readiness for the MBA program.
- Orientation program: The orientation program familiarizes students to the IIM way of learning and acquaints them with the infrastructure, services, and student activities at IIM Amritsar.
- First Year Courses: The first year courses are compulsory and provide basic conceptual knowledge and analytical tools in different functional areas of management.
- Summer Internship: All students undergo eight to ten weeks of summer internship after first year of the program. Summer internship helps students to apply their first year learning by doing organizationally sponsored projects. Student performance in their summer internships often result in final placement offers.
Second year of the program
Second year of MBA comprises of integrative and elective courses in various areas of specialization spread out over the fourth, fifth, and sixth terms of the program. Students also have the option of subscribing to a course in international market exploration where they are exposed to businesses and markets in a select group of foreign countries.
Students can choose courses from among areas of specialization like Marketing, Finance and Accounting, Information Systems and Analytics, Production and Quantitative Methods, Human Resources Management, Business Strategy, Economics, Communication, and Organizational Behavior.

Admission Process for IIM Amritsar MBA
1. This document outlines the process that will be used for selecting meritorious candidates under each category of admission, that is, General, NC-OBC, SC, ST, EW Sand PWD, for admission to the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) Program at the Indian Institute of Management Amritsar (IIM Amritsar) for the batch of 2024-26.2,3
2. The selection process, selection criteria and weights given to various parameters are decided by the Indian Institute of Management Amritsar annually. These criteria and weights are finalized at the beginning of each admission cycle before the CAT Written test. This is to ensure that the admissions process is objective.
3. The admissions process is divided into two stages. The first stage comprises of shortlisting candidates for Personal Interview (PI). The second stage comprises of shortlisting candidates for decision regarding admission to the MBA Program..
4. IIM Amritsar uses a composite score of multiple parameters like marks in 10 th and 12 th Board exams, marks of Graduation Program, quality of Work Experience, Gender and Academic Diversity, and candidate's section wise scores in CAT to judge the suitability of a candidate for the MBA Program. The following document explains the process.
5. Candidates are advised to clearly present marks related information at the 10 th , 12 th ,and graduation level, and information relating to their branch of study in their graduation. Incorrect presentation of information will be construed as misrepresentation, resulting in the candidate’s application not being considered for the next level in the selection process. IIM Amritsar’s decision in this matter will be final and no further discussion will be entertained with regard to the processing of such an application.
Stage 1: Pre Personal Interview (PI) Process
6. The first stage of the process is applied to all eligible candidates who appear for CAT2023 to determine candidates to be called for PI.
7. The first shortlist comprises of candidates who have secured a pre-determined minimum percentile score on each section and overall score of CAT 2023. Candidates obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT-2023 will only be considered. Further processing for PI/WAT is done only for candidates who are selected in this first shortlist. The pre-determined minimum percentile cut-off scores

Stage 2: Personal Interview (PI)
13. The second stage of the selection process comprises of the Personal Interview (PI).
14. During the interview, the panel will evaluate each candidate's academic background, quality of work experience and other personal traits.
15. The post-PI score for each candidate is calculated based on the aggregate scores obtained after applying the following weights. (a) Personal Interview (PI) = 70%, (b)Work experience = 10%, (c) Gender diversity = 10%, and (d) Academic diversity =10%.
16. Pre-PI scores and post-PI scores (with appropriate weightages) will be used cumulatively in the final phase to select the candidates for the program. The selection process, parameters and weights used are uniform for all categories of applicants. Sufficient candidates will be shortlisted at each stage from each social category to meet the reservation requirement for each group, as applicable for that particular admissions cycle.
17. The aggregate composite score for each candidate is calculated based on the following formula-
Aggregate Score = 0.6 X Pre-PI Score + 0.4 X Post-PI Score
18. The final ranking list of candidates for admission to the MBA 2024 program will be based on the aggregate score mentioned in point 17 above. The final offers of admission to candidates selected from each category will be made strictly on the basis of the final rank based on the aggregate score calculated as outlined in point 17 above.
