Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar is the 15th IIM set up by the Ministry of Education (earlier Ministry of Human Resource Development) with the support of the Government of Punjab. After the registration of IIM Amritsar Society on July 27, 2015, the first batch for the class of 2015-17 was enrolled in August 2015. Later, on October 14, 2015, IIM Amritsar Board of Governance & Society was constituted.

The Institute follows the same pedagogy as practiced by the other members of the prestigious IIM fraternity. With the various facilities like state-of-the-art IT-enabled classrooms, a digital library giving access to the most relevant national and international business and management journals, auditorium, student activity room, indoor & outdoor sports facilities, gymnasium, spacious hostel rooms, etc., IIM Amritsar provides a nurturing environment for its students to learn and grow. IIM Amritsar also focuses on creating an entrepreneurial culture, where the students and faculty work together to create best enterprising solutions.

Master of Business Administration program at IIM Amritsar is a full-time two-year residential program in General Management with a summer internship in between. Each academic year begins around June/July and ends around March and comprises of three terms each.

MBA Program Design and Curriculum

IIM Amritsar MBA program imparts foundational functional knowledge of management in its first year and offers integrative and specialization courses in the second year. The program offers opportunity to develop global perspective thorough international market exploration.

First Year of the program

• Preparatory program: The Institute offers a 2-week compulsory preparatory program for selected students to enhance their readiness for the MBA program.
• Orientation program: The orientation program familiarizes students to the IIM way of learning and acquaints them with the infrastructure, services, and student activities at IIM Amritsar.
• First Year Courses: The first year courses are compulsory and provide basic conceptual knowledge and analytical tools in different functional areas of management.
• Summer Internship: All students undergo eight to ten weeks of summer internship after first year of the program. Summer internship helps students to apply their first year learning by doing organizationally sponsored projects. Student performance in their summer internships often result in final placement offers.

Second year of the program

Second year of MBA comprises of integrative and elective courses in various areas of specialization spread out over the fourth, fifth, and sixth terms of the program. Students also have the option of subscribing to a course in international market exploration where they are exposed to businesses and markets in a select group of foreign countries.

Students can choose courses from among areas of specialization like Marketing, Finance and Accounting, Information Systems and Analytics, Production and Quantitative Methods, Human Resources Management, Business Strategy, Economics, Communication, and Organizational Behavior.

Admission Process for IIM Amritsar MBA

Stage 1: Pre Personal Interview (PI) Process

6. The first stage of the process is applied to all eligible candidates who appear for CAT2023 to determine candidates to be called for PI.

7. The first shortlist comprises of candidates who have secured a pre-determined minimum percentile score on each section and overall score of CAT 2023. Candidates obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT-2023 will only be considered. Further processing for PI/WAT is done only for candidates who are selected in this first shortlist. The pre-determined minimum percentile cut-off scores

Stage 2: Personal Interview (PI)

Indian Institute of Management Amritsar is elated to announce the successful completion of the final placements for the MBA, MBA – Business Analytics and MBA – HRM programs for the 2022-2024 batch.

Under the exceptional leadership of our esteemed director, Dr. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, our students have triumphed in a landscape shadowed by economic turbulence and market unpredictability. We have once again set new benchmarks by achieving a 100% placement record for our largest outgoing batch, placing students across a multitude of roles in Finance, Marketing, Consulting, General Management, Analytics, and HR. This includes 39 PPOs, 2 PPIs, and 4 international offers. The highest annual CTC stood at Rs.58.52 lakhs, and the median CTC was at Rs.16.00 lakhs. For the top quartile, the average CTC was Rs.19.73 lakhs, with a median of Rs.18.01 lakhs.

The minimum percentile scores for CAT 2023 eligibility for the MBA batch of 2024-2026 at IIM highlight varying thresholds based on candidate categories. For the General and EWS categories, the required percentiles are set at 80 for Quantitative Aptitude, 75 for both Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and Verbal & Reading Comprehension, with an overall percentile of 88. 

Candidates from the NC-OBC category need 65 in Quant, 60 in DILR and Verbal, and an overall 78 percentile. For Scheduled Castes, the criteria are lower, requiring 55 in Quant, 50 in DILR and Verbal, and an overall 55 percentile. The lowest cutoffs are for Scheduled Tribes and PwD candidates, who need 35 in each section and an overall 40 percentile to be eligible. These tiered benchmarks ensure that diverse backgrounds are considered in admissions, aiming for an inclusive cohort.

Scholarship

Indian Institute of Management Amritsar offers limited number of scholarships to its eligible MBA students based on their scholastic achievement and diversity. The awarded scholarship amount will be disbursed in two equal proportions during two years of MBA program.
