What, in your opinion, should be done after CAT? Ideally, once the exam is over, most applicants, particularly those who are not working, are slightly perplexed about what comes following CAT. The CAT Preparation becomes so much a part of daily life that there is a gap in the day without it. Most candidates use this time to unwind before the CAT results are announced. However, this is a waste of time that could lose you a spot in your desired B-School if you are not careful.
Some applicants participate in a short-term certification program or look for short-term internships to fill their time, while candidates who are not confident in their CAT try, to begin preparing for the CAT all over again. Students should exercise extreme caution during this period because a genuine MBA aspirant must complete various processes following the CAT result. Following the CAT Exam, there are four things you should do:
Newspapers should be a must-read.
Every piece of news and newspaper is critical to CAT. You must concentrate on the offered content, grammar, writing style, and learning new terms. In addition to the news, you should read the editorial part of the newspaper. They will help you look alert for your PI session and be of excellent assistance for your W.A.T (Written Ability Test), which will play a critical role in your overall selection. If you currently read newspapers in the morning, now is a good time to widen your horizons and try reading ones with a different writing style. Every newspaper has its own distinct flavor. Here are a few of them that you should read.
- The Financial Times
- The Hindustan Times
- Mint
- The Hindustan Times
You may also use your phone to install numerous programs and explore through electronic forms.
Participate in Webinars and Workshops
Good preparation for your GD-PI round is essential; otherwise, your efforts will be in vain. Participate in as many interactive sessions as you can. If you are not ready for that level of commitment, you can always participate in webinars. What you will face in your GD-PI round requires professional assistance, so don't dismiss it out of hand. This would be an excellent time to practice your C.V. presentation. You must present yourself in the best light possible, but this does not imply that you must overdo it, which is where expert assistance comes in. Join a decent institute and work on yourself.

Backup Strategies
The last thing you probably want to do right now sits. Taking more examinations is probably the last thing on your mind right now. On the plus side, you're already prepared, and having a backup won't harm you.
- GMAT If you have any work experience, you can always apply to business schools abroad.
- If you are a newcomer, you will only need to create a fantastic college essay, which you can use for all of your applications with minor changes.
- XAT B-schools include XLRI, XIME, SPJAIN, and many others.
- MAT This exam is given four times a year, and the scores are accepted by over 500 business schools.
- TISSNET is run by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), which has campuses in Hyderabad, Mumbai, and MHAT.
Take a Rest
Last but not least, take a break and read a novel, watch some nice movies, and catch up on your sleep because you deserve it and it is not in your plans for the next two years. Following the CAT exam, MBA candidates are advised to prepare for the following phase of selection at various institutes. For subsequent selection, IIMs use WAT and PI, but some institutes use GD and PI. As a result, candidates must thoroughly prepare for the subsequent steps in order to be admitted to their selected institute. Also read: How To Prepare For CAT Within Two Months?
Conclusion
The road after CAT is equally as challenging as the road before CAT. (In some cases, even more difficult). The WAT, GD, and PI preparation must begin as soon as possible. As it will help to provide you with the best chance of admission to your preferred B-School. The GD Preparation, like the CAT Preparation, necessitates a significant amount of practice. Despite the fact that the skill sets examined are somewhat diverse. Only candidates with CAT scores and the institute's CAT cut-off are considered. After completing the CAT Exam, the applicant must begin focusing on their knowledge base, communication skills, and capacity to think on their feet. Candidates who qualify for further shortlisting rounds, such as WAT, GD, and PI, should prepare diligently for these, particularly the GD.
The GD Preparation should assist you in demonstrating to the universities that you apply to why you are a good possibility. CAP refers to the selection rounds done by the top six IIMs (IIM BLACKI) (Common Admission Process). IIMs release their merit lists based on the performance of candidates in these rounds. The ultimate admission is based on a number of factors, including the CAT score, WAT score, GD and PI score, Academic Diversity, Gender Diversity, and Work Experience (Optional).
