CMAT is an abbreviation for the Common Management Admissions Test. It is a national-level MBA entrance test administered by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a national-level Apex Advisory Body charged with technical education statutory authority in India.

What does it test?
The CMAT is a computer-based test with multiple-choice questions. Candidates must read a question on the computer terminal and then respond by selecting the appropriate choice. The examination is divided into four sections:
- quantitative techniques and data interpretation,
- logical reasoning,
- language comprehension,
- awareness, and
- innovation & entrepreneurship.
There are 25 questions in each section. The test lasts 180 minutes and there is no break during that time. Students can move between sections at their leisure. This means that the portions are not timed individually, and it is up to the students to manage timeliness between areas while demonstrating competency in all of them. For each incorrect response, one point is deducted.

The strategy of Scoring:
The CMAT ranks test takers based on their overall exam score as well as particular sectional scores. Those with higher overall scores will be ranked higher. Ties will be broken based on the student's performance in the individual sections - those who scored higher in Quant will be ranked higher. To break a tie, Logical Reasoning, English Comprehension, and General Awareness come after the Quant part in the pecking order.
CMAT Preparation Strategy:

By essentials, you should be able to answer every question in the books without difficulty. Once you've finished the fundamentals, begin revising them all. Each year, specific types of questions are asked in the CMAT. Concentrating on them will boost your ranking dramatically.

Sectional examinations and exercises
Begin by taking sectional assessments and timed exercises. I recommend taking two to three tests per week to determine where you stand and how much progress you require. Remember that this is a computer-based test (CBT), therefore practice only on a computer. Check if the sectional tests are available online. To do well, you must be ACCURATE. Speed is not an issue because you have plenty of time. Solving 100 questions in three hours is simple; time is not as crucial as correctness. The breadth of topics covered has grown in importance. My plan for an exam like the CAT would be to concentrate on a few areas of strength. However, for the CMAT, the student must have a specific level of comfort in ALL TOPICS. This is especially true for the Quantitative section, where questions from exotic fields such as coordinate geometry, arithmetic, and advanced trigonometry have appeared on a regular basis.
Avoid over-studying for the General Awareness section. Your final grade will be determined by how well or poorly you read and whether you have paid attention to happenings in the business and economic environment. Also, avoid answering too many questions in this part. If you regard the GK portion to be a study section, it will become a hefty weight. Treat it lightly, so that preparing for it is more of a pleasure than a chore. Selecting questions for the English part should be done with extreme caution. In this part, it is incredibly simple to lose marks. This is particularly true of the critical reasoning problems in this section.
