The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is a national computer-based exam conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur, typically in the first week of January. XAT 2027 is tentatively scheduled for January 3, 2027. XAT is India's second most prestigious MBA entrance exam and is used by 150+ B-schools. XAT 2026 was conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on January 5, 2026.
XAT scores are accepted by XLRI Jamshedpur (BM and HRM programs), SPJIMR Mumbai, XIMB Bhubaneswar, XIMR Mumbai, Great Lakes Chennai, IMT Ghaziabad, GIM Goa, TAPMI Manipal, IFMR Chennai, and 140+ other B-schools. Your XAT percentile is the first filter for shortlisting; selected candidates appear for XLRI's Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
XAT is unique for its Decision Making section - there is no equivalent in any other Indian MBA exam. This section tests ethical reasoning, managerial judgment, and data-based decision-making. Preparation typically runs 4 to 6 months after a CAT base, or 6 to 9 months standalone.

3-4 long RC passages. Heavy focus on inference, tone, author's perspective, and application of ideas. XAT RC is denser and more philosophical than CAT RC.
