Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur is the third generation IIM set up in 2015 and has grown up to one of the top B-schools in India. IIM Sambalpur has recently launched its second campus in Delhi to provide Executive Education in Management. 

IIM Sambalpur has entered MoU with many International Universities and institutes for International Exchange and Immersion. The students of IIM Sambalpur who partake in the exchange program would spend an entire trimester at the host University at no additional academic fees.

IIM Sambalpur currently offers a range of management programs, including a 2-year full-time MBA, a 2-year Executive MBA in blended mode, a 4-year full-time Doctoral PhD in Management, and a 4-year Executive PhD in Management. Admission Process

Eligibility Conditions: Qualification

• Candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent percentage.

• Completed at least 3 (three) years of full time managerial/professional experience after Bachelor’s Degree as on the last date for submission of applications.

• The programme is open to all nationalities.

• Seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PWD/EWS candidates as per Government of India rules.

Selection Process

Self Financed Candidates

In the case of self-financed candidates fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria as above shall be called for the PI process. The Admission Committee in consultation with the Competent Authority will decide the number of candidates to be called for PI. Candidates shall be required to submit a “No Objection Certificate”/ “Consent letter” for pursuing the MBA for working professionals at IIM Sambalpur – Delhi Centre from his or her employer.

Industry Sponsored Candidates

Industry Sponsored candidates are allowed admission in the MBA for working professionals at IIM Sambalpur -Delhi Centre. A sponsored candidate must have been in service of the sponsoring organization for at least two years at the time of admission. The selection of candidates under this category will be primarily based on personal interview. The candidates will be required to submit a letter from the sponsoring company. A candidate selected under this category will have to abide by all the Rules and Regulations applicable to student admitted under the normal category.

Statement of Purpose (SOP)

Candidates should submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP) not exceeding 2000 words. The SOP should include a discussion of the candidate’s career path, interests, professional contributions, goals, and the driving force behind their pursuit of an MBA for working professionals.

Personal Interview

Upon being shortlisted the candidates shall appear for a personal interview in front of the selection panel. The selection panel will assess the suitability of the candidates based on their managerial acumen and entrepreneurial mindset.

Preparing The Merit List

The Final Merit List for admission to the program will be prepared based on the candidate’s Personal Interview, Academic Qualification, diversity and Statement of Purpose (SOP).

The Personal Interview will be given a weightage of 60 percent. The candidate’s profile, which comprises of their Past Academic Performance and Diversity will each be given a weightage of 10 percent. The Statement of Purpose (SOP) & Career Objectives submitted by the candidate will carry a weightage of 20 percent.

Any dispute concerning Admission for the 2023 batch would be subject to jurisdiction of the competent courts within the territorial jurisdiction of city of Sambalpur only.

The placement highlights for IIM Sambalpur reveal impressive outcomes for the batch. The highest CTC stood at ₹23,50,000, while the average CTC was ₹14,21,442, and the median CTC was ₹13,15,000. Notably, the top 10% of students earned an average package of ₹20,76,220, while those in the top 25% earned ₹18,71,989, and the top 50% saw a median package of ₹16,61,776. Regarding gender-wise average placement, the average for female freshers was ₹14,07,700, while the average for male freshers was ₹14,09,385. For work-experienced candidates, females earned an average of ₹15,14,580, and males earned ₹14,12,958. The domain-wise distribution of placements showed that 31% of students were placed in Marketing, 26% in General Management, 17% in IT Analytics, 12% in Operations, 9% in Consulting, and 5% in Finance. Additionally, a total of 163 companies visited the campus, showing a 23.48% increase from the previous year, with 112 new recruiters contributing to a 49.33% increase in fresh recruitment.

Prominent recruiters in placement 2024 were Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company, Adani Group, Vedanta Limited, Micron Technology, Cognizant Technology Solutions, ICICI Bank, Ernst & Young, Gartner India, HDFC Bank, Aditya Birla Capital Ltd, Akzo Nobel, Accenture among others.

IIM Sambalpur provides a variety of scholarships to support its students financially. These include:

Need-Based Financial Assistance (NBFA):

This scholarship aims to assist students based on their family income. The tuition fee waiver is determined by the following income brackets:

• For families with an income of up to ₹1.50 Lakh: 100% tuition fee waiver.
• For families earning between ₹1.50 Lakh and ₹3 Lakh: 75% tuition fee waiver.
• For families with an income between ₹3 Lakh and ₹4.5 Lakh: 50% tuition fee waiver.

Top Class Education Scheme for Students with Disabilities (SwDs):

This scholarship is designed for students with disabilities and offers the following financial support:

• Tuition Fees and Non-Refundable Charges: Up to ₹2 Lakhs per year.
• Computer with Accessories: ₹30,000 for purchasing a computer and necessary accessories.
• Aids and Assistive Devices: ₹30,000 for the purchase of specialized aids and devices.
• Maintenance Allowance: ₹3,000 per month for hostellers and ₹1,500 per month for day scholars.
• Books and Stationery: Up to ₹5,000 per year for books and stationery.

IIM Sambalpur, which had been operating from a temporary campus, has successfully transitioned to its permanent campus in just three years. The new state-of-the-art 200-acre campus was inaugurated by the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, on February 3, 2024, at Basantapur village in Sambalpur.
