XLRI has been conducting the XAT exam for admission to post-graduate management courses in 11 XAT member institutions for the last 60 years. Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2021 was conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on behalf of XAMI on January 3, 2021, from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM in a single session. XAT 2021 Exam Pattern wass an Online computer-based test. XAT 2021 was the fourth computer-based test in the 60+ years history of XAT. Till 2017, XAT Exam Pattern remained a Paper Based Test.
XAT Eligibility:
- The candidates need to have completed their graduation in any discipline with passing marks.
- The degree completed must be a minimum of three year’s duration or its equivalent.
- Students studying in the final year of their graduation can also apply for XAT exam, as long as they complete their graduation degree by June of the exam year they are appearing
XAT 2021 EXAM PATTERN:
XAT Exam pattern 2021 had four sections totaling 100 questions. XAT 2021 was a computer-based test instead of an earlier paper-based XAT pattern that used to be conducted before 2018. Below is shared the XAT 2021 exam pattern:

Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation
The questions in this section are usually asked from Arithmetic, Algebra, Numbers system, Probability, Functions, Data Interpretations, and Geometry. The Candidate has to be very good at basic maths to attempt these questions in XAT. Expertise requires a lot of time and practice for the preparation. Improving calculation skills and approximation skills is crucial for this section during the preparation. Data Interpretation is typical so you better solve these questions initially and select what you’re comfortable with during the preparation for XAT.

Decision-Making
The Decision-Making section is to test a candidate’s decision-making skills and the judging ability of the candidate in the given situation. You will get questions from different scenarios. They may include Employee Problems and concerns, Ethical matters, psychology, etc.
Strategy for XAT decision making
You have to imagine yourself in that situation and as an imperious decide what is good for the company given in the situation. You have to answer these questions unbiasedly and your answer must be the right fit for your organization.
Verbal and Logical Ability
Reading skills are very important for verbal and Logical Ability. Understanding the question is very important, read the question twice or thrice if you have to but understand it very clearly and answer it correctly. This section is to test the reasoning skills of the candidate so don’t focus completely on Vocabulary skills for this exam.
Key factors in XAT Exam Pattern 2021:
- NAT Questions: A new type of Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions in XAT pattern 2021 had been introduced by XLRI. To answer the NAT questions candidates have to use the virtual keypad appearing on the computer screen and enter the numerical answer. However, there was no such question in 2021
- Penalty for Un-attempted Questions: Each un-attempted question beyond 8 questions carries a negative marking penalty of 0.10 mark per unattempted question in revised XAT exam pattern 2021.
- No Essay Writing Test: There is no descriptive question on the Essay Writing test in the revised XAT pattern 2021.
- XAT Time Duration Reduced: XAT 2021 exam pattern will have a time duration of three hours instead of earlier three and a half hours.
- 25 Minutes Extra for Visually Impaired Candidates: XAT 2021 exam pattern offers 25 minutes extra time for the scribe to complete the part-1 (first 3 sections) of the XAT exam. No time concession is given for GK section

XLRI Xavier School of Management (XLRI-XMS) is situated in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, and is the country’s oldest business school founded by a few Jesuit Fathers in 1949. Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmedabad (MICA)

N L Dalmia Institute of Management & Research
N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research (NLDIMSR) is a business school situated in Mira Road, Mumbai, Maharashtra. Great Lakes Institute of Management – Chennai (GLIM)
It is located in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. It was established in 2004. The total campus size is worth twenty- seven acres of land. Another campus was opened in Gurugram, part of Delhi NCR in Haryana. This was done in 2011. The GLIM was started with the intention of revolutionizing management education in India. The primary focus here is on the one- year program, which is modeled on international norms, as practiced by the top colleges such as Kellogg or Wharton. The GLIM has also been accredited by the NBA (National Board of Accreditation). The Indian School of Business (ISB), which was established in Hyderabad, acted as a model to replicate in Tamil Nadu.
