Mocks
f more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”
― J.R.R Tolkien

Here is a list of few words:

He was what the French would call a gourmand and most psychiatrists a compulsive eater. The event was an absolute delight for gourmands with a ‘smorgasbord’ of delicacies on offer from each country.
Note: The words gourmand and gourmet overlap in meaning but are not identical. Both can be used to mean ‘a connoisseur of good food’ but gourmand is more usually used to mean ‘a person who enjoys eating and often eats too much.
Meaning : a connoisseur of good food; a person with a discerning palate.
The lip-smacking aroma of the moist kebabs spreads through the restaurant, ‘Aromas,’ enticing the gourmets. Two gourmets were discussing the many ways of cooking aubergines.

In any event, unless he’s a glutton, he couldn’t ‘put away’ 30 kilos each of beef, pork, steaks, shrimp and more within two months. How brutal and cruel are the gluttons who eat them!
Meaning : eats a large amount greedily; fill oneself with food.
After gorging on holiday goodies, sticking to your resolution to hit the gym is easier said than done. Not only it is tasty, on a shoestring budget one can gorge on a variety of food.
Meaning: an expert judge in matters of taste.
A connoisseur from Middle-French connoistre, then connaître meaning ( “to be acquainted with” or “to know somebody/something.”) is a person who has a great deal of knowledge about the fine arts, cuisines, or an expert judge in matters of taste. It will give an opportunity for the connoisseurs of food to fulfill their gastronomical desires. Certainly, there was a host of different dishes hot and steamy to cater to the tastes of connoisseurs.

The assembled epicures praised this exquisite tea. With effort, she managed to swallow the first soothing mouthful, and she sipped at the water as an epicure would savor a good wine.
Meaning : eat or drink (something) greedily. It is derived from French gosier, “throat”. I seated myself across from him and watched as he guzzled it all down. Taking out a beer, he popped it open and guzzled it down in one large gulp.
Meaning: eat (food or prey) hungrily or quickly. The word originated from Middle English: from Old French devorer, from Latin devorare, from de- ‘down’ + vorare ‘to swallow’. Predators, such as ladybugs and assassin bugs, devour their prey. He helped himself to a slice of bread and cheese and devoured the food hungrily.
