Talking about personality! You and I have a different personality. All of us are different from the person sitting beside us in some way or another.
In this chapter, we will learn about people with different personality and behavior. In your day-to-day life, you come across many people. Some of them are good listeners and some are good speakers. Being a good listener or a speaker it at sometimes an advantage for you but sometimes you suffer because of this.
One should have a balance between introvert and extrovert features in their personalities in order to avoid the pros and cons of both. Find below which word belongs to you.
Here is a list of a few words:
Taciturn
Meaning: (of a person) reserved or uncommunicative in speech; saying little.
Generally, you come across people in your day-to-day life who are kind of reserved; they like to be with themselves.
Roy being taciturn never tries to initiate conversations with strangers.
Being taciturn I felt nervous to share my viewpoint on the topic in front of the class.
Laconic
Meaning: (of a person, speech, or style of writing) using very few words
A Laconic is someone who talks to the point.
When there was a group discussion about the current economy. Each one in the group was asked to tell about their thoughts on the same. Jack’s laconic reply showed that he was not interested in the topic.
King Albert was challenged by his enemy to win his queen back. King gave a laconic reply “IF” and went away.
Garrulous
Meaning: excessively talkative, especially on trivial matters
It refers to a person who speaks a lot unnecessarily.
Roy was considered to be neurotic by his friends and he was so garrulous that he could not even keep a small secret in his stomach.
Inarticulate
Meaning: unable to speak distinctly or express oneself clearly
People generally face such an issue! They can’t express clearly what they think. And in today’s world, it’s hard for them to survive.
Jack was inarticulate in expressing his experience with the trip to the travel agency.
Verbose
Meaning: using or expressing in more words than are needed
What if you ask someone how was his day today and that person goes on and on… saying that he did that … he did that and an endless list including all the action words. You will be so be irritated I know.
The student thought that by writing in an overly verbose manner, his essay would be better.
Roy always talked in a verbose manner and this fact irritated his friends a lot.
Voluble
Meaning: speaking or spoken incessantly and fluently
A voluble person generally talks with a lot of excitement; you are generally drawn to listen to them.
While attending a recent seminar; the audience was quite annoyed with the voluble speaker as he kept on speaking endlessly.
Loquacious
Meaning: tending to talk a great deal; talkative
Loquacious is slightly positive as compared to garrulous. It refers to a person who talks a lot (his talks are sensible) not like to talk unnecessary shit.
Sam was a loquacious man; his friends always enjoyed his company as he was fun to be around.
Reticent
Meaning: not revealing one’s thoughts or feelings readily
Being a reticent person at times proves to be a disadvantage because at times even if you do something you won’t answer it at all.
Sharon being a reticent always remained quiet in the classroom and that was one of the great reasons that he couldn’t speak well in front of people.
Magniloquent
Meaning: using high-flown or bombastic language
If you have seen the Hollywood movie the GREAT GATSBY you must have noticed then Gatsby was a magniloquent man. He always liked to do things in a big and lavish way.
